This catalog, The Municipal Revenues of Latvia, is the most comprehensive catalog of Latvian municipal revenues to date. It illustrates every variety of which the authors are aware and spans all periods excluding the modern independence era.There are a number of catalogs listing the stamps of Latvia, including Scott, Michel, Yvert, Gibbons and others. None of these include the revenue stamps of Latvia. Revenue stamps were used from the time of the Russian Empire, through the World War I German period, independence, the Soviet World War II period, the German World War II period, the second Soviet period, and, finally, to independence once again.Several catalogs of note have covered Latvia's revenue issues. Some of the listings have not been seen by the authors of this catalog, but are listed as having been seen by Apsit.The Barefoot catalog, 53 pages, is well illustrated in color, but covers revenues of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, and is therefore limited in coverage.The beautifully illustrated Ozolins catalog, 120 pages, does a fine job of extending listings of the National issues to include non-postal labels but does not list municipal revenues.The pricing is based on the number of copies the authors have seen for each issue and variety.
